Now… that’s not to say that Facebook, Twitter and other social media engagement isn’t important. It is… in fact, it’s critical.
Building a cohesive and true-to-you fiction platform is hard work that requires forethought and diligence… There are three aspects of building my platform that are central to every action I take: Authenticity, Consistency and Tenacity.
Like any other career – you can’t make it on wishes and dreams. It takes determination, grit and practice.
But unlike most other careers, writing – when you have novels involved – becomes a balancing act.
How often do you look for a specific publishing house image on a spine when you buy a book… especially when you’re downloading said book to your Kindle?
Exactly.
But… When I finish writing a story, or a blog post… or even a particularly good scene… I feel radiant. I feel completely and wholly alive and I bristle with energy.
This is a test. This is only a test. If this were a real cover, it would be a lot more exciting and a lot less… sucktastic. I have a novel written. I have a typesetter, and a publisher and a cover artist… who happen to be one-in-the-same.
