My coworker is wearing his Cubs shirt that says “World Series Champions: 1908”… this morning in our meeting he said, “People have gone their entire lives as Cubs fans never knowing what it’s like to have their team win a World Series.”
I responded, “That’s the saddest thing I’ve heard all day.”
About three hours later, I heard that my friend Jane lost her battle with cancer.
And life and priorities got hit hard on the reset button.
She was way too young. She was way too good of a person. She had way more friends and people who love her than most. She changed lives and lived authentically. She will be missed by many. Too many.
Cancer fucking sucks. Kiss your kids. Let go of squabbles with your spouse. Let people live and let live. Call a friend you haven’t talked to in a while. Plan a trip.
Life is short. Go live it with love, my friends.
Jane, I know I speak for many when I say: keep on fiddling wherever you are and know that your beautiful light will be missed. We’ll cherish your memory. And we’re all honored to have walked this earth beside you.
Hugs, Shanan.
