Today is the day that I officially commit.
On the weekend of December 11th-13th, I will be at the Phoenix Festival of the Arts, selling and signing copies of Rising: Book One of the Adept Cycle.
Depending on editing and typesetting, I may be selling and signing advanced reader copies. I’m hoping that this isn’t the case, and that I’ll have my fully-published, first edition books available that day. I should know for sure within a couple weeks, and I’ll let everyone know!
Today’s blog challenge asks me to describe how I’d like my first book signing to go.
Well — I’d like to sell out. That would be cool.
I’d like to meet a whole lot of interesting people and talk to them. I want to hear people’s stories and connect with my readers. I’m looking forward to being on the “signing” side of the table!
I’m figuring I might put together a mailing list drive, complete with attached contest. It’ll probably be much like my Amazon gift card drawings. Maybe I’ll come up with a little gift bag… something cool that’s Rising-related. There are many print-on-demand services that create everything from tote bags to shower curtains to mugs. I’m sure I could find something neat to give away.
And probably the most important part: I want to be far enough along in the Release: Book TWO of the Adept Cycle, that I can adequately hype it up! And I also want to have a couple Coven Thirteen adventures out on Amazon.
The moral of this story is: I have a lot to do, and not a lot of time to accomplish it. This begins my official crunch time! It’s 30% Exciting, 70% Terrifying and 100% Necessary. The only way I motivate myself to get off my own ass is by setting unreasonable expectations for myself.
Let’s get this done!!!
Let me know if you’re planning on attending or participating in the Phoenix Festival of the Arts! I’d love to see you there!
