Writing

Be What you Are…

Thank you to Michelle for her quote in the comment section of my I Am a Writer post.  (And if you need motivation to live healthy, read Michelle’s blog, Bigger Than Smaller… her posts always make me want to get up and move!!)

“If you run, you are a runner. It doesn’t matter how fast or how far. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day or if you’ve been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.”

― John Bingham

This quote is universal. Take out the word “run” and substitute it with whatever YOU are.  For me, that word is “write”:

If you write, you are a writer. It doesn’t matter how much or how long [your works are]. It doesn’t matter if today is your first day, or if you’ve been writing for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just write.

Okay, maybe it’s not entirely universally applicable.  You wouldn’t want to substitute “run” with… say… “practice surgery.”  But you get my drift.
